Coventry Stadium welcomes the Superstox on the
super smooth shaleway on the 26th Feb. Some
drivers will be looking forward to returning to shale
racing, some will relish the challenge, others wont
be so keen, 2007 World Champion Shaun Brooker
says,
" Ive raced once on shale at Mildenhall when i
first raced in the late eighties, it was raining and i
was going so slow i kept sliding towards the
middle in the corners"
Other drivers were a bit more optimistic, English
Champion Mark Smith raced on shale in the
Bangers and Stockcars,
"i cant wait" he says " i love the loose, its just my
kind of racing"
Current World Champion Colin Aylward was just as enthusiastic, " Im looking forward to it myself, should
be a laugh!. It will be a shock to some who have never raced on shale before, but as long as everyone
enjoys it!, ive heard 1 or 2 Jocks are coming too which would be good!"
Its over ten years since Superstox last raced on shale, at Rye House. The form man at that time was 5
times World Champion Garry Sparkes, and he proved to be as dominant on the loose as he was on any
other track. Garry has said he is considering making the trip to Coventry, lets hope for the racings sake he
does!
So, add to that the quality drivers like former World Champions Steven Jackson, Jason Cooper, Glen
Salmon and Mark Eaton plus the in-form Liam Lambert and Ryan Eaton, some Scottish , its starting to sound like one to remember!
