Ipswich 26th March Review

Ipswich on the 26th March, started a cold wet night with a very wet looking track. In the pits were first for 2011 drivers Ben Marjoram, Garry Sparkes, Matt Carberry and Jack Hughes. Eddie Edmunds was out in the ex-Cooper HCD for the first time too. Also out was ex-F2 English Champion Martyn Coles.
Heat 1 got underway and within a few laps it began to set the scene for the evening as the yellows came out for trouble on the track, the re-start didnt last long either as James Meadows found himself sideways on the pit straight collecting Sarah Cooper, Marjoram, Munford, Peter Gray and Mark Smith. This time there was a complete re-start which saw Chris Capon lead them away. Martyn Coles had got through well and was soon on the back of Capon, Coles moved through although Capon had a good go at getting him back. Meanwhile the star men on the move were Billy Smith and Shaun Brooker, having a good battle. Martyn Coles took the win, (what better way to start in Supertsox?), Billy Smith getting second from a huge last bend lunge on Brooker who took third.

Heat 2 didn't take long to get stopped either as a pile up involving Jackson, Brooker, and S. Cooper brought the reds out, on the restart Capon once again shot into a good lead. Martyn Coles' good fortune left him as he retired with a puncture and on the move once again was Billy Smith followed not too far behind by Colin Aylward. Capons lead was far too good however and another display of neat driving netted him the win, Billy Smith took second followed by Dave Smith, Colin Aylward and Salmon.

A much drier track for the final saw more commotion at the start and another yellow flag for the unfortunate James Meadows who hit the fence hard. Colin Aylward and Steven Jackson had moved through pretty quickly and more importantly found their way past the quick all night Billy Smith. Once Chopper found the lead he looked pretty comfortable there although Steven Jackson was not far off all the way, Billy Smith had also settled well in third with Garry Sparkes making sure his purple car was kept in Smiths mirrors in fourth. As we reached the closing stages an unlucky crash happened when Jordan Aylward found himself bouncing back into the path of Billy Smith and doing some severe damage to Jordan's car. This called for the race to be declared and gave Chopper the win from Jackson and Billy Smith.

A testing meeting for the Superstox, with plenty of other drivers suffering damage, Jordan was luckily only bruised after the incident, and we can all remind ourselves that cars are just cars, and be thankfull for every driver going home in one piece!
