Best In Britain Report

25 Cars turned up at Wimbledon on 20th November for the annual Best in Britain meeting. Most interest in the pits was centered around the new car from Dave Miles Jnr, and very smart and well built it looked too. Dave however didn't really get the chance to give the car a proper run as his engine gave up in the first race.

World Final Review by Kevin Wegg

Nick Smith’s impressive and thoroughly deserved victory in a brand new Elite racer was something else and climaxed yet another crackin’ season for the Spedeworth Superstox Gromit (and indeed all concerned!) with one of the most sensational, action-packed World Finals of all time, writes Kevin Wegg.

Lattka Looking Good

Ex Stockrodder Tony Lattka's revamped Garry Sparkes car looks stunning, in fact Tony tells us that the only thing left from the original car (built by Tony's cousin Chris Burgoyne) is the chassis. Tony and Chris have spent a few months rebuilding the super, and originally planned for it to be finished in June, but with work commitments in the body shop for Harry and Jock Burgoyne,s garage, the deadline kept getting put back.
Tony is due to race the car at Lochgelly this Sunday and says he just needs some track time to get himself used to Superstox first, before he starts worrying about set ups. Tony has raced Stock Rods for 4 years and up until that point never really had an interest in racing, but with a family of Lattkas and Burgoynes it was inevitable that he would have a go one day, and once he did, he got the bug.

Filming at Northampton

Hello, I am not sure if this of interested to you guys but we are hoping to film the Oval Legends at Northampton on Sunday 30th October. It might be possible to add you guys to the TV series as an additional programme. The series will cover different formulas and it is intended to broadcast on Motors TV - it will be part of a series to be shown over the Winter. The cost would be in the region of £1,200 which could be paid by a sponsor or divided up between the drivers. If this is something of interest to you please give me a shout.
Kind regards,
Richard

Superstox 2011 European Championship Preview

Saturday 24th September sees the Superstox head to Ipswich for the 2011 European Championship, a long running prestigious title first run in 1965. Over the years the winners have included Tony May (4 wins), Garry Sparkes (3 wins), Mark Kelman (2 wins) and an impressive 5 wins in a row for Dave Pierce. Last years race at Wimbledon was filled with controversy as a large amount of damage saw the race postponed until later in the meeting, which left the then World Champion Ben Marjoram to cruise to a dominant victory. This year the grid may have lost out slightly to Ross Eatons wedding, which looses Steven Jackson, Mark Smith and Ryan Eaton from the line up, but it has made up for itself with the inclusion of 2 Dutch drivers in the shape of 1994 World Champion Luud Laurijssen and his son Jeroen plus from Scotland we see the very quick Chris Stewart and the current British Champion Stuart Gilchrist.
Here is our top 10 for who we think stands the real chance this Saturday plus a few more who we couldn't quite rule out.

Yarmouth 4th August - Felsham Garage Cup

Only 15 cars arrived at a slightly wet Great Yarmouth on 4th August, but the evening certainly wasn't short of entertainment. Garry Sparkes was giving his new car its first run.
